Jimmy Page

People, I just wanted to share a picture of Jimmy Page with you all. Jimmy page was the lead guitarist of Led Zeppelin, which was the sexiest rock band ever. Yes, even better than Spice Girls. I really enjoy Led Zeppelin music. They did a whole range of music from classic rock to bluesy rick to folk music to rap to thumri. No, actually I added the last two to the list, but they were versatile.

Anyway, I like to pencil sketch and paint. The problem with painting is that there are too many colours to keep track of and I invariable forget to wash my brushes between colours, resulting in many a Warholic paintings. So I found the perfect solution -- use only one colour. So, here is my favourite art form. Black and white water colour painting.

This one is inspired by a photo at Jimmy Page Online. I hope you like it. Criticism, positive and negative, is welcome.

Cheers

Anurag, I am not exactly what you would call a connoiseur of art, but this is a bloody good painting! What else have you got up your sleeve, man? I was considering asking you to show all your paintings at our next beer session (whenever that happens :( ), but I'm notoriously clumsy with beer. So maybe before/ after?

And I think there is an alignment problem... I had the same in mine, and maybe resizing the pic may help...

Anurag, it's a great painting. It's so good I originally thought it was a solarized black and white photograph. I too like your version more than the color one.

Senthil, Elf, Mint C and eM: Thanks a lot for the praises. I have swollen so much with pride that I am stuck in my chair.

The first time I saw this picture was when Live Wire (IIT Bombay rock show) used it as their stage backdrop in 1995. They actually Worholized the original picture, and the effect was very stunning. I made two copies of that picture, but felt most satisfied when I painted it in black and white in 2000.

I am going to upload another black and white painting of mine soon.

Once again, thanks for the kind words, all of you.

Great thing! I thought you had put up some image (and not a scanned painting)! Excellent painting, just one thing, may be you would want to resize the image size in your blog. As of now, its barging in to the side bar :)

But honestly, amazing stuff dude ! I hate being a talentless male ;)

Led Zeppelin absolutely rocks. And if you are fan enough to draw Page, you will love this fer sure !

Hi Anurag,

G sent me this link after I mentioned my interest in painting to her. I do oils but they are not even half as good as what I see here. I am in awe!

I came across it on google while doing art research for my coursework, and instantly recognised Jimmy Page... he's my hero :) and then... I noticed you'd posted it on my birthday.
It must be a sign for something. :)

Hi Jim,

Thanks a lot. Jimmy Page is indeed worth hero-worship.

Also, wish you a happy birthday, even though it is a little late now. :)

Take care
Anurag
