Kind of blue

After reading comments from various people on how there was so much noise in pictures taken by the 500mm reflex lens that I have, I decided to calibrate the sharpness and resolution of that lens against the other zoom lens that I have, the Canon 75-300 USM III. After many trial shots, I came to the conclusion that the reflex lens is probably better off being used as a flower pot (after I take out the lens). It has very bad resolution, and it extremely difficult to focus. However, a very nice shot resulted from the entire exercise, which I present for you, wonderful readers. Hope you like it.

I have to say, now that's something else... That 500 has to have it's uses... do you live on a high rise? Take some night shots of the road with it and see what you get... make sure you throw em on here...

Great picture. just great.
I'd underplay the border a bit though.

I tried setting this as my wallpaper too.. just as my boss walked in and started to talk about the report I was supposed to be working on instead of reading blogs :p

I quickly minimized the browser and the horror, I couldn't read the text under the millions of icons on the desktop! Though he didn't comment on my apparent inability to find the report I am supposed to be working on at the moment, I had to stick a sheepish grin on my face for the rest of the day :p

Anurag,
aren't these high mm number lenses aptly called -Telephoto- lenses? Why are you shooting just macros with them?

More pictures sir.

renovatio,
500s combined with high resolution cameras and high rise vantage points have other uses that pander to voyeuristic tendencies too! Check this picture out, make sure to look at it in full size!

renovatio: Thanks. I do live on the fifth floor of a building, but I can not see a road from my apartment. I will try some night shots, but I am sure the results will not be much better.

ra.ge: Thanks. Sorry about your office incident. :) As for your comment about these lenses being telephoto, yes you are right. However, this is not a macro shot, but an extreme close up. A shot is called macro when the magnification is more than 1.0. That is, an object of size 35mm should diagonally completely fit into the frame. This is a high zoom shot, but not a macro. I have shot many other things with this lens, but most of them are on slides.

scribbler: Nice! I am an amateur illustrator, but would love to see your work.

sunshine: Thanks. Of course you may!
